Cato Sanden (born 20 February 1954 in Bergen; died: 3 May 2005 in Askøy) was a Norwegian musician. From 1974 to 2005, he was a member of country rock band Flying Norwegians. In 1984 , he released his debut solo album "Cato Sanden" after Åge Aleksandersen convinced him that he had good enough song material for this. For this he won the Spellemann Prize 1984 in the roots & country class. Later, Sanden released a number of albums and received several gold records. His second album, Living Today , became Norway's best-selling album in 1986 . On this album was Sanden's biggest hit, "Let's Go For Freedom". For the third album "Once a Hero", he won the Spellemannprisen 1987 in roots & country. During his career, he was a guest musician on many albums, including co-writing with American folk artist Laurie Lewis.
