About Canadian Sunset

Band members: Maurits Nienhuis: Vocals & guitar Daniel Weststeyn: Lead guitar & backing vocals Lennard Veldwijk: Drums & moral support Erik-Jan van Dorp: Bassguitar & backing vocals Info about Canadian Sunset: In 2006 three close friends decide to start a little recording project where several musical ideas are developed. But soon the framework of being just a studio act proves to be too small, and they decide to start performing live as well, with several casts. The result is the Dutch indie rock band Canadian Sunset! The potential of the -meanwhile- four certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed in the Dutch alternative rock scene, which has lead to opportunities such as taking part in a tour with national and international bands in 2008. Their music and energetic stage performance have been rewarded by professional juries of several regional and national band competitions. Early 2009 the quartet teams up with indie producer René de Vries and the debut EP ‘This Deceitful Heart’ is recorded. The style of the songs and overall atmosphere of the EP show the great development and courage of the band; 5 radical new songs are released, only one of them ever played in front of an audience before! The members don’t feel bound to a specific style of music and their works make a musical palette of alternative indie rock with harder elements blended in. Their typical raw sound is characterized by driving, compelling melodies where vigorous guitar sounds dominate.
