About Calabi Yau

Self described as polite goats caught in a threshing machine, Calabi Yau are present day practitioners of a polyrythmic, detuned, deconstructed form of rock. Calabi Yau's no wave sound lurks in Charlotte NC amongst the American now-corporate dream. As a three piece band, Calabi Yau uses angular changes that seek to deconstruct the pop norms. They are on a Durham NC label called Din Din records that has emerged in the wake of a growing no wave-political punk-bike punx-collective-decorporating idealism. Influences include Pac-Man Sade Jesus Lizard Charles Ives Arab on Radar Geraldo Rivera Karlheinz Stockhausen Kaiser Soze Fugazi The Minutemen The N.R.A. N.O.W. GWAR KIM Chong-il
