There are at least nine different outfits who are currently recording or have recorded under the name of Cassette. 1. A fresh-out-of-the-oven Romanian deephouse project with influences from electro, funk and dance music consisting of Olivia Alexandru (vocals) and two producers, Sorin Seniuc and Ionut Catana. 2. A band from Gainesvilla, Florida, fronted by Samantha Jones. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2005 on Bakery Outlet Records. 3. A South African 5-piece. Their debut album "Welcome Back To Earth" was released in 2007 and their second album "Who Do You Trust" early 2009. 4. A 3-piece New Zealand band who have released two albums ('Cut For Summer', 'The Jingle KIng') and two EPs ('Emo', 'Cancer'). Cassette are associated and often perform with other NZ acts such Lawrence Arabia, Bachelorette and The Phoenix Foundation. A group of bands describe by Mojo magazine as the New Zealand 'Dream Pop' movement. 5. A Boston-based synth pop group. 6. A UK electro band. 7. The solo project of Miami resident Devin Smith, releasing via. Atomisk Records. 8. A Peruvian band, who is unable to release proper records. 9. A Vietnamese alt-rock band (stylized in The Cassette) hailing from Da Nang, formed on November 23, 2018. The current members include Tran Hoai Than (lead vocal/guitar), Nguyen Huu Thien (lead guitar), Nguyen Thoai Quynh My (bass), and Vo Tran Nguyen Thanh (drums) (formerly Le Dinh Sinh). After releasing their debut studio album titled Rừng Đom Đóm in 2021, The Cassette has garnered a distinct reputation within the underground music community, gradually becoming one of the prominent indie artists in Vietnam.
