About Cécile Doo-Kingué

Considered one of Montreal’s most electrifying guitarists by local press and groove aficionados, Cameroonian New Yorker-come-Montrealer Cécile Doo-Kingué blends blues, soul and afro-folk to create a unique sound. She has worked with Montreal Jubilation Choir, Corneille, Bernard Purdie,Tricia Foster,Cindy Doire, United Steel Workers of Montreal, amongst many. June 2010, Cecile released her debut solo album “Freedom Calling” to critical acclaim. On record or on stage, Cécile Doo-Kingué takes us deep into a series of musical grooves. From one song and style to the next, her mastery is undeniable. While she tames the blues on her sweet guitar, she opens the door to 60’s and 70’s soul, and afro rhythms. May 2012, Cécile launches her first french EP, Bien comme ça, a 4-song blend of afro-folk and blues where banjos, cajones and guitars live in harmony. Regardless of her mood, Cécile captivates you with sincerity while her sound soothes body and soul. Slick fretwork, suave vocals and clever lyrics. A must hear!
