Bruner

About Bruner

In the late 1960s, when Linda Bruner was just a poor seventeen year old, she and guitar teacher Jim Krein procured an inexpensive recording device and performed a six-song acoustic session in the back of Nielsen’s Music Store. The songs were unrehearsed, stripped down, and of poor quality, but strikingly intimate and stirring. The collection of five covers and one original song sat on a dusty shelf for over forty years, amidst a sea of outtake reels and b-sides, just waiting to be discovered. It would be a crime to polish and overproduce such raw tracks, and Numero Group Recordings have preserved the echos, hisses, and various imperfections that make these recordings so relaxed and special. Even the colorful banter between Bruner and Jim Krein are audible on some tracks. If you close your eyes, you might just think you’re back in the ’60s, in the dusty back room of Nielsen’s Music Store.
