About Brie Larson
Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers (born October 1, 1989), known professionally as Brie Larson, is an American actress, singer, and filmmaker. She began her career with supporting roles in comedic productions during her teenage years before transitioning to leading roles in independent films and major studio productions. Her awards include an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2019, Time magazine included her in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world. At the age of six, Larson became the youngest student admitted to a training program at the American Conservatory Theater. She began her acting career in 1998 with an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". She later had a regular role in the sitcom "Raising Dad" (2001–2002) and pursued a music career, releasing the album "Finally Out of P.E." (2005). She went on to appear in supporting roles in films such as "Hoot" (2006), "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" (2010), and "21 Jump Street" (2012), and played a recurring role in the television series "United States of Tara" (2009–2011). Her breakthrough role came with the independent drama "Short Term 12" (2013), in which she portrayed a social worker. She also appeared in "The Spectacular Now" (2013) and "Trainwreck" (2015). Larson gained wider recognition for her performance in "Room" (2015), in which she played a kidnapping victim, earning the Academy Award for Best Actress. She subsequently appeared in larger-scale productions, including the film "Kong: Skull Island" (2017), and portrayed Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with "Captain Marvel" (2019). She later returned to television with a leading role in the miniseries "Lessons in Chemistry" (2023), for which she received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress. In addition to acting, Larson has worked as a filmmaker. She co-wrote and co-directed two short films and made her feature directorial debut with "Unicorn Store" (2017). She also produced the virtual reality series "The Messy Truth VR Experience" (2020), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Interactive Program. Beyond her creative work, she has been involved in advocacy related to gender equality and support for survivors of sexual assault, and has spoken publicly on social and political issues.
