About Breakwar
Romantic metalcore band from Moscow, Russia. The band's history dates back to the spring of 2000 in the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd region (where all the musicians come from). Two members of the grindcore project Посадил Дерево (Alexey "Фин" – guitar and Roman "Банан" – vocals, lyrics) began searching for musicians for their new metal-hardcore band. Soon, bassist Andrey "Абадон", who had previously played in a number of metal bands, was invited to join the band. A long search for a drummer began, as a result of which Roman "Лысый" joined the band, who at that time had his own band, "Breakwar" was considered an experiment, besides, he knew that the guys had a real problem with a drummer, and decided to help. It was decided that the band's name would not change, as originally expected. During the summer and autumn, the first program was rehearsed, which was first heard not in his hometown, but in Astrakhan, where Breakwar was invited to play as guests of the festival (November 2000). As a result, they got two concerts in one evening, the first at the festival, and the second at the Bomb club with one of the local bands. By that time, Breakwar was the main and only band for Roman (drums). The next concert took place in Moscow (December of the same year) at the Jerry Rubin club, where a memorable event took place – the reunion of the Skygrain band with participation of Unconform, CounterStrike, and 095. This was followed by a series of concerts in Volzhsky, after which it was decided to record the available material, which consisted of 6 tracks. The recording took place from February 3 to February 15, 2001 in Volgograd, at Alexander Sepatenkov's studio. The finished material was printed on compact discs and cassettes, made in-house. In May, Breakwar are traveling to St. Petersburg to take part in the presentation of the 5 углов band's "Мяч в твоих воротах" cassette, after which they are seriously considering moving to Moscow, as it becomes clear that there are no prospects for such music where they live. In addition, at the end of May, the first member of the band (Andrey, bass) leaves for the capital, which serves as an additional incentive for the rest. There are no rehearsals at this point. Roman (vocals) and Alexey (guitar) are leaving for Moscow in August. The drummer is not going to move, so it is decided to find a new one, and after a while Sasha "Хомяк" appears. It takes several months before Breakwar plays their first concert in Moscow, with a new drummer. During this time, no new songs appear, only old ones are being rehearsed. At the same time, the material recorded in Volgograd takes on the appearance not of a homemade compact disc, but of the first release of the Moscow label MCHC. In winter and spring (2002), the band begins to give concerts with an updated line-up. Roman (drums) returns to Breakwar in the summer, having decided to stay with the band in Moscow. And the first concert, with the original line-up, took place in early July (the Svalka club) with the Dutch death metal band Sinister, but without the vocalist, who was absent from Moscow at that time for a number of reasons, Andrei took over his role at the concert. Autumn and winter are spent in rehearsals, where a new program is being developed, as well as material for recording. At the beginning of 2003, Andrei loses his job, he has the prospect of moving to Italy. He's not in a hurry to make a decision, everyone else is waiting, already thinking about finding a new bass player. Andrey decides to stay with Breakwar, the rest of the musicians appreciate this act. Relationships in the team are strengthening, becoming even more friendly. In the new songs, Andrey begins to perform some vocal parts. Roman ("Банан") participates in the program "Неотложка", on the nightly broadcast of Эхо Москвы radio, together with Sasha Irzak 5 углов and Alexey "Рэйх" (label "МСНС"), where, among many hardcore bands, several "Breakwar" tracks are played. A significant event in the band's concert activity can be considered March 12, 2003, when Breakwar traveled to St. Petersburg for the presentation of the new CD 5 углов - "Массовый гипноз". At the end of April, Tanya (vocals), who previously participated in the recordings of such bands as Pain of Separation and Unconform, joins the band. On May 3, in the already updated Breakwar line-up, after a two-year break, they give a concert in their hometown, Volzhsky. By that time, Tanya has two songs ready. On the 24th of the same month, the band is invited to play at the 10th anniversary of the Маррадёры in St. Petersburg. Breakwar is the only invited team from another city. Among the participants of the anniversary, in addition to Маррадёры and "Breakwar", the bands are The Пауки , Strawberry Jam, Gimme a Gun, Til' I die. In the summer of 2003, the band sits down to record a new album at the Black Obelisk Rec studio. The new album is called "Рвутся Сердца" and is released on "Кап Кан Rec." In support of the new CD, the band gives a number of concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Voronezh, etc. In early 2004, the drummer left the band. Within a short period of time, a new member joins Breakwar, Anton Smolyanin, who plays in the Arida Vortex band and is a former member of the Рогатые трупоеды. On June 10, Breakwar travel abroad for the first time, to Poland for a big festival, where 8 other Polish bands (Sunrise, No Heaven Awaits Us, Calm The Fire, etc.) play, and on June 12 they play, once again, a concert in Kaliningrad. In 2006 the band releases their second LP album "Жизнь без любви забвенье". It was recorded at the Giant Record Studio and released on the Frost Records label. In addition to Roman and Andrey's vocals, Olga's voice is heard on the new album "Жизнь без любви забвенье", which invariably performs with the band as a backing vocalist. The presentation date is December 3, 2006. Breakwar signs a contract with Frost Records. During the recording of the album, a new member appears, the second guitarist is Vitalik (ex – Reanima). During the same period, a professional video for the song "Строчками слёз" was shot. The clip is actively playing on channel A1. In January-April 2007, a series of concerts took place at the Tabula Rasa club with the participation of such bands as Born From Pain, Heaven Shall Burn. During the same period, due to creative differences, the band broke up with vocalist Roman. He was replaced with new vocalist Nikita Podkatov (ex-DoZen, .моёсердцесправа., Totem) with whom work begins on new and old songs. Unofficial EP album called "Breakwar" with 4 new songs was released on 2008 and can be downloaded from VK or other sources.
