Brandy Rayana Norwood (born 11 February 1979), known mononymously as Brandy, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, model, and actress. Born in McComb, Mississippi, she was raised in Carson, California, in a musical family and began her career as a backing vocalist for teen groups. After signing with Atlantic Records in 1993, she released her self-titled debut album, "Brandy," the following year. Norwood achieved mainstream fame starring in the UPN sitcom "Moesha" and gained further recognition for her roles in the television film "Cinderella" (1997) and the slasher film "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" (1998). Her 1998 duet with fellow R&B singer Monica, "The Boy Is Mine," won a Grammy Award and became one of the best-selling female duets of all time. Monica Denise Arnold (formerly Brown; born 24 October 1980) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress. Born and raised in College Park, Georgia, she began performing at an early age and joined a travelling gospel choir by the age of ten. In 1993, she signed with record producer Dallas Austin’s label, Rowdy Records, and gained prominence with the release of her debut studio album, "Miss Thang" (1995). Her subsequent albums achieved continued success, with her second album, "The Boy Is Mine" (1998), becoming her best-selling release. The album produced three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles: "The Boy Is Mine" (a duet with Brandy), "The First Night," and "Angel of Mine."
