About Bobby Osborne

Bobby Osborne is a bluegrass musician known for his mandolin playing and high lead vocals. Born December 7, 1931 in Leslie County, Kentucky, Bobby Osborne is known primarily for his collaborations with his brother Sonny Osborne in their band, the Osborne Brothers. He was a pioneer in conceiving the now-popular "high lead" vocal trio concept. He has released numerous recordings since the 1950s. Most notably, the Osborne Brothers recordings of "Rocky Top", and "Kentucky" inpired their being named official state songs of Tennessee and Kentucky, respectively. As of 2005, he continues an active performance schedule with his band, the Rocky Top X-Press. The Osborne Brothers were made Grand Ole Opry members in 1964, and were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor in 1994. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
