About Blitzspeer

Blitzspeer was a thrash metal/heavy metal band from New York, New York and formed in the year 1988. They released four releases via Epic and one release through an independent label called American Gothic. The first was an EP recorded live at the Limelight in NYC, which was aptly titled Live in 1990. The EP consisted of a few Blitzspeer songs and a cover of the MC5 song Kick Out the Jams. Their second release was their first and only full-length album by Blitzspeer entitled Saves in 1991. Also in 1991, they released their 3rd release entitled Tyrants of Rock, which was a three-way split release. The other two involved with the split were Pearl Jam and Warbabies. By the year 1992, they released their fourth & final release through Epic was Sonic Glory, which only has songs taken from their only album Saves. They were no longer with Epic after 1992. In 1993, they released a 45" single entitled Breathe Fire through the label American Gothic. This was their final release overall. Blitzspeer's last known lineup consisted of Scott Lano (vocals, guitars), Phil Caivano (guitars, bass, vocals), Curt Fleck (bass) and David Tritt (drums). Past members include Bryan Essing (drums), Louie Gasparro (drums) and Mackie (drums). Tritt appeared on the 45" single released independently through American Gothic. Tritt died of a sudden heart attack on March 3, 2018 at the age of 57.
