About Bifidus Ativus
Rocking since 1993, Bifidus Ativus is an independent alternative rock band stationed in São Carlos-SP, a countryside city in Brazil. The band is formed by Daniel (vocals, guitar), Guilherme (bass), Gustavo (guitar) and Maurício (drums). It all comes down to one thing to this band: having fun. Perhaps that's the explanation for the mix of influences that can be found on it's albums, wich comes from each members' music taste, playing what they like without worries about how someone might label them. They vary from Punk Rock, Surf Music, Folk, Blues to popular oldies brazilian love song performers such as Sidney Magal, Evaldo Braga, Moacyr Franco and others. They've shared stages with bands such as Cólera, DZK, Raimundos, Los Hermanos, Charlie Brown Jr, Autoramas, Gritando HC, Garage Fuzz, Walverdes, Shed, Mqn, Man or Astroman, Watts, Nebula, Trans AM, Flatcat, Samiam, among others, and even played on the same stage as a Brazilian Pagode band, in Botucatu-SP. Tha Band released three cassete tapes – Bifidus Ativus (1994), The Greatest Shits (1995) e Para pensar e pular (1997) – and two CDs – Como era bom (2000) e Marcinha (2005).
