About Banging Rush

When Little River Band member Tony Sciuto wasn't on tour, he focussed on putting his own band together in Baltimore, an outlet to perform his own songs on stage, but much more rocking than this solo releases. Other than Tony himself, the line up consisted of his brother Michael Sciuto (who had been playing with ex-Styx vocalist Dennis DeYoung), and guitarist Mitchell Allan. For their first album the trio was completed by various session drummers: Eric Di Nenna, John Coale, Taso Kotsos and Rob Lasky. They were completed by Frank Grande (keyboards) and Paul Soroka (organ). The debut album Genius was put out on the High Heels Label. In 1996 it was decided to rename bONEhEAD into Banging Rush, a more mainstream-sounding name. The group was finally completed by recruiting Eric Di Nenna for the job on the drums. Tony met Magnus Söderkvist, who runs the successful Swedish MTM Music label. Magnus encouraged the band to record an album for his company, which became the 1997 Holiday in Eden, a much more mature act than the debut. The CD hit the market and received brilliant reviews, but the public didn't take much notice of the release. Unfortunately the group fell apart before too long, with Tony joining Peter Beckett's Player for live shows, and the other members for unknown destinations.
