About Baby Bugs
Bowie Rabas, also known as Baby Bugs, is an alternative musician from Richmond, VA. They are non-binary and use they/them pronouns. Bowie began releasing music as "Bowie Bugs" on SoundCloud in early 2021, at age 17, before changing their artist name to Baby Bugs later that year. Their first song, "Hey Bunny," was released January 21, 2021, containing lyrics about intrusive thoughts and imaginary friends. It was featured in season 2 episode 5 of the Netflix series Ginny and Georgia, and remains their most popular to date, with over 10 million listens. In the same year, they released their debut EP, Little Jars of Blood, featuring some acoustic songs similar to "Hey Bunny," and some heavier rock songs, with Ben Seay on drums, Drew Ertzner on bass, and Bowie's boyfriend, Tanner High, on guitar. They also released a rock version of "Hey Bunny," known as "Hey Bunny (Remix)." In 2022, Baby Bugs released their debut album, Genesis, with a similar sound and themes of mental illness, religious trauma, and unhealthy relationships. It was preceded by the single "Autotheist," a punk rock song dealing with religious trauma which remains a fan favorite. Following the release of Genesis, Baby Bugs decided to pursue making more Folk, Pop, and Singer-Songwriter music, and took a step away from having a full band. In Spring 2023, they released their second EP, Heavenly, produced by Nxghtshade. In October 2024, while on their Bugs & Butterflies Tour co-headlining with Solya, they released their sophomore album, In My Bones. It featured Halloween-inspired tracks "You Can't Hide" and "My Corpse Friend," and largely contained acoustic instrumentation inspired by their late grandfather, who was also a guitarist. Later, Bowie released the deluxe version of the album, including two new songs, "Decay" and "Wicked Nature." Bowie is also chronically ill, and has made multiple songs about their experiences feeling 'broken' and being failed by the medical system, such as "Diseased," which also features the same bunny from "Hey Bunny." In 2025, they released the two songs physically through Vertigo Vinyl, as the world's first bunny-shaped vinyl. Most recently, they have released "Bible Belt," a single exploring further themes of religious trauma, and announced their headlining Bible Belt Tour. Afterwards, they released "Holy Water," which Bowie described as their version of a love song, and "Wishing for Wounds," a heartbreaking song about childhood abuse.
