Babangida is an underground hip-hop MC and producer from Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia, which is located on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. Member of Ленина Пакет His sound is loose and lo-fi, an aesthetic gained through the use of cheap bootlegged software in place of two turntables and a mixer. Babangida also often raps with two voices in one song: a normal voice and Quasimoto-like pitched one. The music is distributed in the form of mp3s via the internet in an updated version of the "magnitizdat" distribution responsible for the spread of dissident music during the Soviet-era. His earlier tracks were often recorded with borrowed beats (i. e. CunninLynguists, Madvillain, Jedi Mind Tricks etc.), but later he started to collaborate with fellow Russian beatmakers like РЖБ and Nuttkase. Some of the music was written by Babangida himself. Main aspects of his lyrics are troubled social life, rather depressive reflections influenced by Existentialist philosophy, political satire, and mocking of other Russian rap artists. His style is characterized by using a lot of obscene lexicon mixed with different allusions to more sophisticated spheres like literature, history, etc. One of his attribute is aura of anonymity.
