About Bluesounds
Bluesounds were a Finnish blues rock band active from 1979 to 1982. Their debut album Black (1980) is considered a classic of English language Finnish rock. The original lineup consisted of lead vocalist/guitarist Dave Lindholm, bassist Ari Vaahtera, and drummer Zape Leppänen. A fourth member, keyboardist Tapio Niemelä, joined the band in 1981. The original trio were all renowned musicians and were already acquainted with each other before Bluesounds were founded; Lindholm and Leppänen had played together in Orfeus, while Leppänen and Vaahtera had played together in Kalevala and Limousine. Bluesounds released five albums (including a live album and a singles collection) between 1980 and 1982. The band broke up in 1982 due to a combination of creative differences and Dave Lindholm's rejoining Sleepy Sleepers.
