Paolo Benedetto Bellinzani (Mantua or Ferrara, 1690 - Recanati, February 25, 1757) was an Italian composer. Life His birthplace is not exactly known, as some sources give Ferrara and other Mantua. Nothing is known about his early life and studies. At age 25 he was appointed maestro di cappella at the Cathedral of Udine. Then he is supposed to have embraced the ecclesiastical career, and he served as maestro di cappella at Ferrara, Pesaro, Urbino, Fano and Orvieto. In 1737 he was given the post of maestro di cappella of the cathedral of Recanati, a post he held until his death. Works Bellinzani wrote much sacred music and in it four masses, psalms, offertory and other minor pieces. His output ranged even in secular music in which he wrote many madrigals as well as instrumental pieces such as sonatas and church sonatas.
