About Bad Wolves

Bad Wolves is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2017. The band initially gained widespread attention with their debut single, a cover of the Cranberries’ 1994 song "Zombie". Following this breakthrough, they achieved further commercial success with several singles reaching number one on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, including "Remember When", "Killing Me Slowly", and "Sober". As of the early 2020s, Bad Wolves have released four studio albums: "Disobey" (2018), "N.A.T.I.O.N." (2019), "Dear Monsters" (2021), and "Die About It" (2023). The band was founded by drummer John Boecklin, vocalist Tommy Vext, lead guitarist Doc Coyle, rhythm guitarist Chris Cain, and bassist Kyle Konkiel. Many members had previously played in other metal acts, including DevilDriver, Divine Heresy, God Forbid, Bury Your Dead, In This Moment, and Scar the Martyr. The group was managed by Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch. Early writing sessions for their debut material began in 2014, and recording took place at AudioHammer Studios in Florida under producer Mark Lewis. Bad Wolves released their debut single "Learn to Live" in 2017, followed by "Toast to the Ghost". Their cover of "Zombie" was released in January 2018 and became an international success, topping the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The cover drew additional attention due to its association with Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan, who had expressed interest in contributing vocals shortly before her death in January 2018. The song also charted internationally and led to increased visibility for the band. Their debut album "Disobey" was released in May 2018. Following their early success, Bad Wolves toured with several established rock and metal bands, including Five Finger Death Punch, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and Papa Roach. In 2019, the band released their second album "N.A.T.I.O.N.", preceded by singles such as "I'll Be There", "Killing Me Slowly", "Sober", and "Crying Game". Some of the material involved collaboration with outside songwriters, which later became a point of internal disagreement within the band. Around this period, vocalist Tommy Vext publicly made statements regarding creative control and authorship of certain songs. In January 2021, Tommy Vext left the band. The remaining members stated that they would continue without him, while Vext announced plans for a solo career. His departure was followed by public disputes between Vext, the band, and their label Better Noise Music, including legal actions and conflicting statements regarding political disagreements, songwriting credits, and conduct during his tenure in the band. Vext was replaced as lead vocalist by Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz, formerly of The Acacia Strain. With Laskiewicz as vocalist, Bad Wolves released their third studio album, "Dear Monsters", in 2021. During this period, the band stated they were focusing on a new creative direction while moving away from previous internal conflicts. In 2022, guitarist Chris Cain left the band, and Max Karon (formerly of Once Human) joined as rhythm guitarist, having already contributed to songwriting on earlier albums. The band also released the EP "Sacred Kiss" in 2022. Their fourth studio album, "Die About It", was released in 2023. Around this time, the band underwent further lineup changes, including touring adjustments and additional guitarist changes. In 2024, AJ Rebollo, formerly of Issues, joined the band and contributed vocals on the single "Knife". In 2025, founding members Doc Coyle and Kyle Konkiel left the group. Chris Cain rejoined the band, and Kevin Creekman became the new bassist. Despite these changes, Bad Wolves continued recording and performing, maintaining an active presence in the modern heavy metal scene.
