About Babylon A.D.
Babylon A.D. is an American hard rock band formed in 1987 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The original lineup consisted of Derek Davis on vocals, guitarists Danny De La Rosa and Ron Freschi, drummer Jamey Pacheco, and bassist Robb Reid. In 1989, the band was signed by Arista Records after performing at a live showcase in Los Angeles. Their self-titled debut album, "Babylon A.D." (1989), included tracks such as "Bang Go the Bells," "Hammer Swings Down," and "The Kid Goes Wild," the latter of which was featured on the soundtrack and video for the film "RoboCop 2." The band's second album, "Nothing Sacred" (1992), produced the singles "Bad Blood" and "So Savage the Heart," and the band toured extensively in support of the release, with several music videos aired on MTV. After leaving Arista Records, Babylon A.D. signed with Apocalypse Records in 1999 and released "Live in Your Face," a compilation of live recordings from various U.S. cities. They followed this with the studio album "American Blitzkrieg" in 2000. In 2006, the band issued "In The Beginning... Persuaders Recordings 8688," which contained material from their original demo tapes. During breaks from Babylon A.D., members pursued other projects. Derek Davis released a blues rock album with Jamey Pacheco as part of American Blues Box (2005) and later recorded solo material, including the album "Re-Volt" (2012). His blues-based rock band Moonshine released a self-titled album in 2014 with guest appearances by Michael Anthony and Jane Child. Ron Freschi released his own band's debut, "Syrym," in 2007. Babylon A.D. reunited with all original members in 2014, releasing the four-song EP "Lost Sessions / Fresno, CA 93" and performing in the U.S. and at Nottingham, England's FireFest Rock Festival. In 2015, they issued the live album "LIVE@XXV" to mark 25 years of performing and appeared on the Monsters of Rock Cruise alongside Y&T, Tesla, and Night Ranger. The studio album "Revelation Highway" was released on Frontiers Records on November 10, 2017, featuring the return of original guitarist John Matthews. Bassist Eric Pacheco, who contributed to "American Blitzkrieg," died on December 6, 2020, at the age of 53. In 2023, Babylon A.D. released their third live album, "Live Lightning," featuring 14 live performances, and Jamey Pacheco departed from the band. Studio albums Babylon A.D.
