Bernard Greene (September 28, 1965 – January 21, 2023), known professionally as B.G. the Prince of Rap, was an American rapper and singer. He found moderate success in Germany, where he resided after being stationed there through the United States Army. Greene was born in Washington, D.C., United States. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany in 1985. Musical career Greene achieved his most notable success in 1991 with the single "This Beat Is Hot", which reached number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The song also peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 54 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. In 1992, he followed with "Take Control of the Party", which reached number two on the U.S. dance chart and number 71 on the UK Singles Chart. During the 1990s, he released several other tracks, including "The Power of Rhythm", "Can We Get Enough?", "The Colour of My Dreams", and "Stomp!". Death Greene died in Wiesbaden, Germany, on January 21, 2023, at the age of 57. He had been affected by prostate cancer in the later years of his life.
