About Axminster
Axminster is a hard rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA, that was formed in 1982. Some of the band members formed Wildside in 1986. Summer of 1984, Boston, MA is when it all got started, yeah that was many decibels and a few moons ago, literally. We had airplay, a few regional hits, headlined clubs, got some great reviews and did gigs with bands like Metallica, Extreme, Twisted Sister, Molly Hatchet, Foghat and Lita Ford. Yes, all very 80's. We played everywhere they let us! But by the early 90's that kind of rock was all but banished from the airwaves in favor of the Seattle sound. So after a ton of gigs and moving a ton of gear and showcasing for all the major labels, Axminster went on hiatus. In 1995, an independent record label based in New York City, got a hold of the Axminster master tapes, signed the band and released a CD that spanned the group's recording career. At an outdoor concert, before hundreds of fans, the band played a reunion show. The response was so overwhelming that the nearly original roster of Steve Sera, Mike Lamm, Benny Fiorentino & Danny Callan decided to reform the group. The band was back together. We added Dave Q, to the band, mixing in his unique brand of piano, synthesizer and keyboard licks to get that full arena sound and to expand the musical boundaries. We wanted to try some new musical ideas. Notes Fiorentino. We called the band Kick the Dog, so that our new material could be judged on its own merit, and not draw comparisons to where we were in 1986. In 2003, Axminster, using the name Kick the Dog, recorded and released an 8-song CD titled 'Territory', exploring new ground for the band. Songs off the CD got some airplay and both regional and international magazines and web-sites raved about the 'new' band, but it was after all still Axminster. "Axminster fans asked why we didn't just keep the original name"? Laughs lead singer and guitarist Steve Sera. So we went back to it, and did an about-face. This new 10-song collection is packed with guitar driven rock and roll. Fans of both vintage 80's rock and modern hard rock will appreciate the honest homage. So here we are and here it is. We're still making music, playing for anyone, anywhere that wants to hear our songs. We had a blast in the past and we have the scrapbook, battle scars and the road kill to prove it! 2009. Axminster. about face. It rocks, and we hope you think so to. Discogs: Axminster - 1999 Retro-Fits - 2009 KTD Territory - 2020
