About Autumna
Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, Autumna got fascinated by music at an early age, with interests ranging from harsh noise to classical and everything in between. He started producing about a decade ago, with a real boost in activity the last three years. For Autumna, making music falls into a combination of different practiced art forms, the concept of translating thoughts and emotions to sound blends with a similar passion for photography and writing. A track usually starts with one key element, which can be a feeling, a word, an image … Autumna is a firm believer in the principle ‘all sound is music’, a paradigm incorporated in every one of his tracks. The sounds he uses are derived from field recordings, movies, documentaries, conversations, his own voice, … For Autumna ‘all sound is music’ sets both a freedom as well as certain boundaries, oft the notion ‘less is more’ is a welcome given. To categorize the type of tracks Autumna produces, he often wields the term ‘eclectronica, a blend of idm, experimental and ambient. Although he is a fairly positive and cheery person, his tracks are usually dark, moody and brooding, with an occasional ray of light, a bit bipolar maybe.
