About Ateriavia

Ateriavia was a progressive post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Momence/Chicago, Illinois, United States. Real integrity is found few and far between among many young bands these days. Ateriavia, formed in early 2003, have done more than the typical band their age. Six months after they started, the bands booked their own east coast tour and since then, have been playing relentlessly throughout the Midwest including their hometowns of Valparaiso, IN and Kankakee, IL. They also frequent Chicago clubs such as the Fireside Bowl (RIP) and the Bottom Lounge. Spring 2004 landed them a spot on a 57 date national tour with Steel Train (Drive Thru Records) and The Berlin Project (Orange Peal Records). After only a couple weeks into the tour, the singer left yet the band decided to continue and recreate themselves on the road. The band now consists of 5 members: Matt Forkenbrock, (vocals, synth), Mike Brown, (guitar, vocals), Eric Sjaaheim, (bass, vocals), Nicole Beres, (guitar), and Chris Oppenhuis, (drums). The band has an eclectic sound, drawing influences from such bands as At the Drive In, These Arms are Snakes, Recover, and Fairweather to name a few. Ateriavia has played with such acts as Underoath, Alexisonfire, Boys Night Out, Spitalfield, Steel Train, Salem, and The Berlin Project. October 22nd, 2004 marks the release of their new EP released on Lujo Records entitled Regarding the Midwest: Sleeping. Now the band is ready to make the road their home and get their music to anyone who will listen. Much to its own credit, Ateriavia's biography should not just be summed to a handful of buzzwords or clichés that tell you they "rock." Ateriavia's impact is best left to the music.
