About Apryl
APRYL are a very creative and young foursome from Veneto, Italy, who came to life in 1995. Their style, deeply rooted in the 70s, features complex and diverse classic symphonic prog epics with various time signatures and keys. As for references, GENESIS comes closest although the band does share some of the raw energy of RUSH and THE FAR SIDE. They have released a mini-cd in 2000 and a full album in 2002, both self produced. Most of their material is keyboard driven, with lots of Hammond organ and synth solos as well as nice piano passages. More than half of each track are purely instrumental and the vocals, sung in Italian, are more on the 'romantic' than the 'dramatic' side. The all-instrumental tracks are still very melodic but tend to have a much harder feel, almost flirting with metal at times. Fans who would welcome a rougher edge to typical Italian symphonic prog should lend an ear to APRYL. -- www.progarchives.com
