About Angst Pop

Started as a pet project (and an alias) of Per Aksel Lundgreen, known from Apoptygma Berzerk, Cronos Titan and Chinese Detectives, "Angst Pop" rose to contribute to the pioneer Norwegian EBM compilation CD, "Sex, Drugs & EBM", released on Tatra Records as early as 1992!!! A video was made for the track "Ødipus Rex", a video that was later re-mixed and re-modelled, and so was also the song, so the "Ødipus Rex (Video Version)" appeared on the Scandinavian Electro/Idustrial compilation "Melt" on Cyberware Records in 1995. Another song, "Viva Ta Vie" was recorded and produced with the help of Stephan Groth of Apoptygma Berzerk, and this featured the vocals of Isabelle Gernand of the band Sabotage-Q.C.Q.C. and can be found on the compilation album "Electronic Youth Vol. 3" on the Music Research label in 1996. Other mentionable appearances by Angst Pop/Per Aksel Lundgreen, was the song "Wrack'em To Pieces" by Apoptygma Berzerk, that originally was an Angst Pop track, but while in the process of recording the 12" for "Ashes To Ashes", the need for a B-Side appeared, and Stephan of Apoptygma asked if this track could be re-recorded and used for this purpose, and so it was. A punk friend of ours, Torro Sollie, came in and did the "death metal" vocals, and the song was recorded in the raw and immature version that you can find today both on the "Ashes To Ashes" 12" and on the "Singles Collection" and "The Apopcalyptic Manyfesto", all by Apoptygma Berzerk. Angst Pop/Per Aksel Lundgreen, was also a member of Apoptygma Berzerk from 1990-1994 as a keyboarder, and also did some uncredited production work in the studio on the first 4 singles and the first album, including co-writing the lyrics for the live killer track, "Electronic Warfare". This track also appears in a remixed version, called "Full Speed Ahead Version" on the Hard Records/Cleopatra compilation CD, "The Digital Space Between - Vol. 2". Per Aksel Lundgreen is also in the "Deep Red" video by Apoptygma Berzerk. Angst Pop has never "disbanded" or stopped working with music, even though nothing concrete has been done since 1999... Maybe this will be a new era for Angst Pop. or maybe not...
