About ALICE DEEJAY
Alice Deejay was a Dutch Eurodance project founded and produced by Wessel van Diepen, Dennis van den Driesschen, Sebastiaan Molijn, and Eelke Kalberg (known as Pronti & Kalmani) and fronted by singer Judith Anna Pronk. The group achieved worldwide success with the 1998 single "Better Off Alone", which sold over one million albums and five million singles globally. Formed in 1998, Alice Deejay launched their career with the debut single "Better Off Alone", originally credited as DJ Jurgen presents Alice Deejay. The track reached the top 10 in many European countries and also charted in North America. In the United Kingdom it went platinum, reaching number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and in the United States it reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their second single "Back in My Life", released in November 1999, reached number 1 in Norway and entered the top 10 in Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The group released their only album "Who Needs Guitars Anyway?" in March 2000, which entered the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart. Three additional singles followed: "Will I Ever", "The Lonely One", and "Celebrate Our Love", all of which reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom. Pronk, accompanied by backing singers, toured dance venues to perform live. In 2002 the original lineup made their final appearance together. After more than a decade of inactivity, the producers revived the project in 2014 with a new vocalist, Ilona, a Dutch singer and DJ, performing under the slightly modified name "Alice DJ" and beginning a new tour. In October 2021, 20 years after her last performance, Pronk returned to Alice Deejay for a reunion tour with concerts across Europe. She made her comeback on 16 October 2021 at the Ethias Arena in Belgium and gave her final performance on 14 December 2024 at the Kubix Festival in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The project was produced by Danski (Dennis van den Driesschen) and Delmundo (Wessel van Diepen) together with Pronti (Sebastiaan Molijn) and Kalmani (Eelke Kalberg).
