About Albert Bashor
It is a labor of love for Bashor. His years of experience playing the Blues circuit and playing around the world with bands such as Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band, Dr. Hector and the Groove Injectors, Alex Taylor (James Taylor's brother), Bo Diddley and James Peterson. This has given him the creative mojo to create a truly great album. Every track tells a story, and brings the listener along on a ride they will never forget. Bashor recently made a Mississippi pilgrimage where he had the privilege of visiting Robert Johnson's grave. "It was so moving," says Bashor. "I'd wanted to do that all my life. To go there and touch his tombstone and soak up his joo joo. It was inspirational beyond words!" You can hear that inspiration all through the album. The track "No Place Like Home" tells the story of his travels throughout the South; and really brings his message home. Bashor pays tribute to the people of New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina, much of New Orleans was destroyed. Places like the "Musician's Village", created by Habitat for Humanity have given the refuge and a place to rebuild homes and the musical culture. You can feel the respect that Bashor has penetrate through his lyrics and music. Bashor is hardly new to the scene. He is a regular session player at now-defunct Kingsnake Records. He has recorded with the likes of Noble Thin Man Watts, Nat Aderley, Reverend Billy C. Wirtz, Chicago Bob Nelson, and Lucky Peterson. Both a musician and a songwriter, Bashor's "Rockin' Red Rooster" was covered by International Blues Hall-of-Famer Lonnie Brooks on his CD "Roadhouse Rules" (Alligator Records). The song became an international radio hit! "Rollin' and Tumblin'" is Bashor's first solo album - the first of several which are in the works. Claims Bashor, "I'd like to produce an album every year." He is now touring the South, traveling his way up the Mississipi to Chicago. His powerfull vocals give meaning to his heartfelt lyrics, which are supported by soulful guitar-playing. Bashor is currently writing a single for a concert saluting returning veterans. The track will make its debut at the Red, White and Blue Concert in Chicago on November 20th. It will be part of an event that is a "Thankful Tribute" to those who served in the Armed Forces.
