About Agostino Di Scipio

Agostino Di Scipio (1962). His compositions include works for instrumentalists and electronics, sound installations, beside some tape works. Some of these works explore non-conventional approaches on the generation and trasmission of sound, also including models of noise and turbulence. Others implement dynamical networks of live sonic interactions between performers, machines, and environments. Two recent CDs have been issued, "Hörbare Ökosysteme. Live-elektronische Kompositionen" (RZ Edition), and "Paysages Historiques" (Chrisopée Electronique). Electronic Music professor at the Music Conservatory of Naples, since 2001 he is also guest professor at CCMIX (Paris). Artist-in-residence of the DAAD program in Berlin (2004-05), in recent years he served as guest professor at the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign), Johannes-Gutenberg Universität (Mainz), Technische Universität Berlin. Visiting composer at Simon Fraser Univ. (Vancouver), ZKM (Karlsruhe), IMEB (Bourges) and other institutions. Author of essays and articles in the analysis and critical theory of music technologies. Editor of many publications, including the Italian translation of books such as "Genesi e forma" by G.M. Koenig (Semar, 1995), "Heidegger, Hölderlin & John Cage" by M.Eldred (Semar, 2000) and "Universi del suono" by I. Xenakis (LIM/Ricordi, 2003).
