Afrodizijak
About Afrodizijak
Music group AFRODIZIJAK was founded in November 2002 in Banja Luka / Bosnia and Herzegovina, when we created specific cultural expression in Banja Luka and surroundings. Original music expression was built on the native african rhythms and famous tradition of african culture, implementing various similarities with local ethno and some modern rhythms. Using only voices and traditional african instruments mixed with Balkan and modern beats, this band became very movable, merry and extremely powerful on stage. The very first concerts Afrodizijak had at the beginning of 2003, and played in most of clubs in Banja Luka (KIC, Onazis, Mr.X, Castra, PKB Geto, Del Capo, Club Max, Latino Bar, Irish Pub), also in the open street concerts and all over Bosnia and Herzegovina's towns and cities (Sarajevo, Bihac, Brcko, Doboj, Derventa, Novi Grad, Prijedor, Teslic, Slatina, Celinac, Srebrenica ...), and then in September 2007, Afrodizijak for the first time played in Zagreb (CRO) at the 2nd ZGethno festival in the club KSET, where we very successfully presented our music to croatian audience. AFRODIZIJAK members are collaborating with many other bands (Post Scriptum, A3pa, Krec, Sopot, Fokus 51, Sarajevo Drum Orchestra...), local DJs (Urban Beat, Woodie...), youth and humanitarian organizations. Afrodizijak members also lead percussion workshops for children in summer camps Global Children's Organization (GCO) in BiH and Peace Action Children Team (PACT) in Croatia, and untill now we have participated in many humanitarian actions for children.
