About Abdallah Ag Oumbadougou
Oumbadougou, born in 1962 in the north of Niger , was expatriated in 1984 to Libya , where in 1987 he founded the group Tagueyt Takrist Nakal to fight for the unity of the Tuareg people. Between 1991 and 1995, his compositions, banned by the Nigerian government, were distributed via pirate cassettes throughout Niger, Mali , Algeria , Burkina Faso and Libya . The peace agreements signed in 1995 allowed Oumbadougou to return from exile and to make the most of his popularity to set up the Takrist N'Tada association to promote Nigerian culture. In 2005, Abdallah started a collaboration with leading members of the alternative scene in France. Collectively known as Desert Rebel, they have released their first eponymous CD in 2006, as well as a documentary film "Ishumars, les rockers oubliés du désert".
