About Alexandre Désilets

The well-known Sylvain Cormier music journalist described Alexandre Désilets as a blend of Rufus Wainwright and Thom Yorke with a pinch of the French icon Jean-Louis Murat. Désilets is one of those few artists which combine audacity, grace and sensibility. Since 1999, Désilets is known for his work with electro composers such as Adham Shaikh (Interior Horizon) and Freeworm (Vegetation = fuel and Solar Power). In 2005, he created the tripy electro-soul duet Funami, with music based solely from sampling of his voice. Their debut album, Vocophilia, crossed the Atlantic and sold more than 5000 copies in Portugal as few songs are taken for the series Cirque du Soleil Fire Within. In 2006 Alexandre goes solo in French and hits the road of Quebec's music contests. He wins the Festival International de Chanson de Granby's final, the best song prize at Ma Première Place des arts and the Prix Pauline-Julien/Sodec for the best interpretation at Petite-Vallée's contest. With all those successes, Alexandre releases his debut album in 2008 with the famous producer Jean Massicotte (Patrick Watson, Lhasa, Arthur H, Pierre Lapointe. Jean Leloup). Received enthusiastically by both public and critics, Escalader l'ivresse is granted no less than 4 nominations at the Gala de l'ADISQ the same year, including DISCOVERY and POP-ROCK ALBUM of the year.
