About Alaskalaska

Specializing in spirited, explorative indie rock that's anchored in grooves and pop melodies, ALASKALASKA began with a mandate to make music that was fun to write and perform. In the realm of similarly eclectic alternative acts such as Talking Heads and tUnE-yArDs, their off-kilter music incorporates vintage synths and whimsical effects. They made their recording debut with the ALASKALASKA EP in 2017. Based in South London and involving members of its flourishing jazz scene, ALASKALASKA was formed by songwriter Lucinda Duarte-Holman (vocals, guitar) along with producer Fraser Rieley (bass), Calum Duncan (guitar), Gethin Jones (drums), Fraser Smith (saxophone), and Joe Webb (synths, keys). Duarte-Holman, Jones, Smith, and Webb were all transplants from Wales. The group quickly signed with Marathon Artists, which released their eponymous debut EP in 2017. Recorded partly in Smith's living room and partly with co-producer Tom Carmichael in a more professional studio setup, their first full-length, The Dots, followed on the same label in 2019.
