About Uniqum

Aliases: KJ Rhyme, DJ GGz, UQ Introduction KJ Rhyme, born Feb 1st, 1990, started rapping back 2003 under the alias Unique, which was changed to Uniqum in 2004, due to an bearing resemblance to Q-Unique from Rock Steady Crew, and Unique, a rap duo that released a record called "Dynamite" back in 1988. First Recordings The first recordings of KJ were made in norwegian, and the first ever song he recorded, called "Jean TV" still exists, but is extremely rare. The first serious recordings made in english on the other hand, is stil unreleased, but is set to appear on the compilation record "PSR Vol. 2 - Remixes & Rarities" which will be released sometime after the release of "Salad Days", and before the release of UQ's fourth LP, "The Midnight Opera". First Mixtapes For a long time, things were kept on the low, but in late 2005, more precisely November 22nd, Uniqum released his debut 49-tracks long mixtape, called "The Experimental", quickly followed by "Giving Me EX P", a collection of freestyles, "2005 EP" and "The Experimental 2" in february of the following year. At this point UQ rapped exclusively on english. "The Experimental 2", nicknamed EXP 2, were also the first of his mixtapes promoted by the release of an single. This was the once popular song "Clubhoppin". Uniqum also released a mixtape called "GTB" in April 2006. King of G-Town After this series of mixtapes, KJ decided to slow down the pace of his releases, as he felt he had been slacking on his latest mixtape at this point, GTB. The next mixtape that was released were named "King of G-Town", and were released in late december 2006. Those already listening to Uniqum at this point could hear how UQ had stepped up his game, and his potential were easier to spot. 2007 The following year, 2007, seemed to be a year filled by drama and feuds, but in retrospect it could seem as the first successful year of KJ Rhyme's career, and on June 12th, E3: the Expo were released. The new CD sounded better than any of his previous releases, and quickly gained popularity from the hype created by a beef with some local rappers. "Joy", "Suzie", "Where Are You" and "F.U.C.K." became the most popular songs off the new record and UQ got new fans by the minute. Heavy Halling From here on, KJ's solo career went quiet for a minute due to a break after the released album, and due to him working on material for a single by the group Heavy Halling, of which Uniqum were vocalist. The group were dismantled later the same year, and their first single titled "KJ Rhyme" were recorded, but never released. Early 2008 In early 2008, January 22nd, Uniqum returned to his solo career with the single "My Destiny", which were the first of three singles released before the release of his second album, Second Chapter. The second single, that were intended for the Second Chapter, Tha U Is Back and it's B-side, First they love you, never appeared on the final album. Second Chapter Finally, on June 10th, 2008, two days off on the one-year anniversary of his first album, Second Chapter were released. The new album, which were originally intended for a vinyl release, consisted of a total 16 tracks, plus a hidden bonus track. The album gained a good number of downloads, and the most popular songs were "Hold On", "Without You", "Dreams Come True" and "Nothing", listed in random order. Glory Road Surprisingly, the next single from Uniqum, were released as quickly as october 2008, titled "Glory Road". The single were the first one off a new untitled album, later the album were postponed and the songs on the single were dropped from the album. Devils Pie This new untitled album remained a mystery for a long time, but more details were revealed alongside the release of the first real single, "Devils Pie", which was released on May 11th, 2009. "Devils Pie" is per today the most popular single and song by Uniqum ever, and gained airplay on foreign radio channels. At the time "Devils Pie" were released, it was believed that the album, now entitled "Salad Days" were to release in june 2009, but was later postponed to august 2009, which still is the current release date for the album. The second single off the album is set to release on July 28th, the name of the single is yet to be announced. Salad Days The last album KJ released under the name Uniqum was “Salad Days” which were released on tuesday, September 1st, 2009. The 13 songs on the album quickly became popular, and of these, the most popular songs were “Devils Pie”, “My Love”, “Cappucino” and “Life”. Name Change At the end of 2009, Uniqum changed his alias to KJ Rhyme, because he felt it was a better name, and because he had stopped saying Uniqum on records. The name change will be celebrated with a “Best of… Uniqum” record with the greatest songs, and a bonus disc, with remixes and re-recorded tracks. Official home site: www.kjrhyme.com
