About Спасибо
Спасибо (Spasibo or “Thanks” in English) formed in 2013 in Moscow, but in recent years, the band has been living in Serbia, forced to relocate due to their anti-war stance. Their music combines elements of shoegaze, emo, indie rock, dream pop, post-punk, krautrock, and psychedelic rock. Over the past decade, they have released five full-length albums and built a devoted following. The band’s frontman and founder is Расел Рахман (Rasel Rakhman), with Павел Еремеев (Pavel Yeremeyev) on drums. Musically, Спасибо draws comparisons to modern psychedelic garage rock bands such as The Oh Sees and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Beyond his role in the band, Rasel is also a passionate advocate for genuine, meaningful music and a life-affirming approach to creativity. The band cites rock icons like Iggy Pop and Johnny Cash as inspirations. If Rasel had to pick five albums to take to a deserted island, they would be: Slow Focus, In Utero, Revolver, Siamese Dream, and Requiem. Спасибо sees themselves as, in some ways, a successor to iconic Russian artists from the ’80s and ’90s, such as Кино, Звуки Му, Майк Науменко, Юрий Шевчук, Гражданская Оборона, Егор и Опизденевшие, Психея, Tequilajazzz, Янка Дягилева, and АукцЫон, including the work of Леня Федоров.
