Adriano Celentano (born 6 January 1938) is an Italian singer-songwriter, actor, showman, and filmmaker. Nicknamed Il Molleggiato because of his energetic dancing style, he has been active in music and film for several decades. His albums have achieved both commercial success and critical attention, and with estimated sales of around 150 million records worldwide, he is among the best-selling Italian musical artists. He is frequently credited as the author of both the music and lyrics of his songs, although some were written in collaboration with others. Owing to his extensive career in Italy and internationally, he is often regarded as an influential figure in Italian popular music. Celentano is also noted for recognizing changes in the music industry and for helping to introduce rock and roll to Italy. As an actor, he has appeared in 39 films, most of them comedies.
