Listeners seeking music rooted in social consciousness and community values will find their home at KPFA, the Berkeley-based community radio station that has powered the airwaves since volunteers first turned on the transmitter decades ago. The station's programming reflects its commitment to reflecting the voices and concerns of its listeners, drawing from soul, jazz, world music, and other genres that speak to working people and activists. KPFA operates on listener support and volunteer effort, making it a rare space where the community itself shapes what gets played and heard.
