About the Expectorated Sequence

From Montreal, Quebec, Canada “It all has been said before, but you still won’t listen.” Canadian band Expectorated Sequence has witnessed its share of disasters. Now after two releases in the first decade of the 21st century, the band is now able to present their very first LP, five years in the making, which spits out every bit of anger these Canadians have piled on in their attic: “The Prolonged Disaster”. The punk metal act Expectorated Sequence was formed in early 2002. After several DIY releases, compilation appearances and over-the-top live performances, the band releases their first EP “Over the Top” in 2004, on Montreal label Contempt for Humanity, at the time runned by Montreal’s music store legend Shawn Central (from doom band Squalor). Their first full-length effort, “Hairbomb”, quickly followed in 2005 on label New Romance for Kids and was promoted with the help of a European tour with American friends from psycheledic band An Albatross. The Montreal-based quartet was originally comprised of vocalist and recording artist Eric Grenier, guitarist Charles Martin, bassist François Fafard (original vocalist for early Beneath the Massacre), and drummer Guillaume Archambault, with second guitarist Xavier Germain Poitras joining in 2008. Returning to their homeland after their first European experience in 2006, the band started writing material for what would be their most complete opus to date. Bassist Fafard was then replaced in 2009 by multi-instrumentalist Louis Guillemette (drummer for sludge band Kraken) and Grenier started the recording sessions for what would be called “The Prolonged Disaster”. It is now time to let the tigers out; “The Prolonged Disaster” saw the day in June 2011 on DIY label L’Oeil du Tigre and will surely remain known as one of Canada’s most imaginative album in the aggressive music scene.
