About steve & ed
Steve and I had a fun and challenging time putting together our first LP. On it are songs that could be described as easy listening covering a variety of subjects - - from ballad and novelty to the nostalgic and serious. Some of the songs are personal while some are simply an objective view of life's experiences. See which ones you can identify yourself with. We hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we enjoyed making it. Much has been said about "future shock" and the rapid pace of our modern world. "THERE'S NO GETTIN' OFF NOW" describes the feelings of such a one caught up in life's treadmill and his inability to cope with it. Turning from the harsh, hurried world, "I LOVE THE RAIN" brings inner cleansing and renewal. You can almost feel the refreshing rain fall as you listen to the gentle flow of the music. The thoughts of "WHEN / WAS A BOY" are familiar ones to" those who cherish memories of childhood. The song is marked by mixed emotion, for the grown man is happy to recall wonderful times of the past, yet is sad because he knows he'll never be able to relive those precious moments ever again. Do dreams come true? In "EARLY ONE MORNIN' BRIGHT SUN SHININ' " they do. This novelty song speaks of the fun, fancy and mystery of one taken up in dreamworld only to be astonished by its reality. Listen carefully to the story and note especially the difference and change in mood between the two refrains. The person in "WHERE YOU BELONG," after being away for awhile, returns to a place he used to enjoy during his earlier years. Although he is older now and settled down in life, his thoughts turn to the good times of the past - - the quiet voice within him (refrain) then urges him to come back and stay. As seasons turn and change, so do the many romantic love experiences in "SUSAN (AND WITH HER COMES SPRING!)." Loyalty and faithfulness are the keys to a genuine relationship which makes "Susan" surpass all others. Every person needs time and a place where he or she can be alone, away from the burdens and routine of daily life. Oftentimes being alone with a friend brings the quiescent surrounding "DREAM SONG" expresses. In the folksong "THE CHASE," a man breaks out of prison but soon pays the price of his escape. Rather than facing up to the problems and pressures of life, escaping from them, only to be caught up by them again, may "cost" more in the final outcome. In "FOUR SEASONS'," once again the cycle of the seasons can reflect a part of man's experience - the brevity of his life and the inevitability of change and death. A song of adventure and travel, "I'M ON MY WAY" can be easily identified by those who seek new places, people and experiences. "THE DREAM THAT NEVER WAS" is a typical love song of one whose dream doesn't come true. Speaking against man's apathy, pseudo-satisfactions and dead-end "trips," "JUST IN TIME" takes up where the first song leaves off. True purpose and happiness come when one ceases to live life his own way to discover God and His ways.
