About scndphase
scndphase, also known as Laine, is a multitalented experimental music artist and poet based in the Seattle area. With influence from Arca, Girls Rituals, and Four Tet, Laine uses Ableton to create her music. She began posting music on her SoundCloud in 2021 with the track "the four walls of my room don't look so oppressive after going outside and being with the real world". They have made remixes to songs by Megan Thee Stallion and Eartheater, as well as made many individual songs currently unreleased on other streaming sites. "i am certain of one thing/i commit horrible atrocities daily", posted in March 2021, was her first bandcamp release, consisting of two songs. In January 2022, they released their EP titled "carrying", beginning her dive into more traditional streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. scndphase says "this ep is in memory of my sweet lovely old hard drive i accidentally spilled coffee on, losing around probably over 200 songs. I had the good ones saved though, enough to make this ep!" It is released on all streaming services and includes four tracks- 129, second :: second, pushed, and bleeding core. Her music references many of her own personal struggles and experiences in life including her complicated relationship with philosophical religion and spirituality (which she especially explores in the song "bleeding core"). On bandcamp, scndphase released two bonus tracks, south yorkshire, and lily. It can be supported for $7.
