Sixteen year old, Lyr1kz, riding on the success of his underground single "We Family", is busy working on his new album titled "This Is Me" with producer/quitar Mike Rodrick for independent label " Pro Records" . Through it, Lyr1kz hopes to demonstrate that he's come into his own. Building on early musical influences, especially the profound impact rapper Eminem has had on his music, he's working to create a signature sound. Tracing his own evolution, Lyr1kz readily credits Eminem for showing him what Hip Hop music do: Hip Hop beats wedded to pop lyrics created an art that allowed for the self-expression Lyr1kz was looking for. It brought together the two music worlds that surrounded him growing up on Buffalo's West-side. Though the hip-Hop scene dominated by negativity, Lyr1kz wasen't impressed with its preoccupation with violence and anger, he much preferred the postive messages. The joining of these two musical sources lit a creative fire in lyr1kz. Tapping into the latest computer technology, Lyr1kz, at the age of 9, he began composing his own beats and laying down vocal tracks. World events, such as 9/11, and his own life experiences provided themes for cuts on his his first three (3) CD's. His lyrics reflected the emotional rollercoaster he found himself on: As he gained some success, changes in his relationships with others were not always positive. Personal issues with past relationships had toke him out of focus. Lyr1kz found himself and his music becoming cynical. He had to struggle to reconnect to the positive, life-affirming messages he wanted to express. At 13, under the direction of Cochise, manager/producer at Quiet As Kept Studio in Brooklyn,New York, Lyr1kz brought out "The New Era E.P." It was his first CD that would find a wider audience. Locally, Lyr1kz was confident enough to play it for his home school, where it was received enthusiastically. It would get greater play in the eastcoast such as New Jersey,Buffalo and Brooklyn. After a series of false starts, Lyr1kz is finding a unique niche for his music. At a tender age of 16, he works seriously with other local talent, learning the ropes of the music industry. His blending of the music traditions of Rock and Hip Hop with positive themes of loves, courage and hope are introducing music lovers to a new sound experience.
