About powerviolets
Powerviolets is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Violet Hetson, who is currently based out of New York. After several false starts bouncing around the east and west coast recording music and performing with several lineups, Hetson released her debut album "No Boys" in 2020. The album was titled after a sarcastic sign she hung up on her suburban Connecticut teenage bedroom door after being tormented by puppy love. The same year, she released the single "Plants and Rags", a cover of the song by PJ Harvey. Violet Hetson grew up mostly listening to punk and hardcore and uses elements of these genres with influences from bands such as X and Suburban Lawns. "No Boys" takes a softer, melodic approach to Hetson’s punk roots. Powerviolets’ music is linear, unconventional, dark, and airy with a sense of humor. In 2021, Powerviolets released the single "How You Remind Me", a cover of the song originally by Nickelback, and "circle square (DEMO)". (Adapted from the band's Spotify page.)
