About mysterybear
Dave Seidel (mysterybear) was born in Hudson, New York in 1958. He studied music at Simon's Rock College, from which he earned a BA in 1978. During this time he also studied classical guitar with Edward Flower. He spent 1978-1988 in New York City playing electric guitar (and sometimes Chapman Stick) with his band People Falling and in various ensembles lead by composers Scott Johnson, Lois V Vierk, Guy Klusevcek, and Bill Obrecht at venues including CBGB, the Mudd Club, Danceteria, The Kitchen, Alice Tully Hall, The Dia Art Foundation, The Walker Art Center, Bang On A Can, Dance Theater Workshop, and the New Music America festival. He appears on two of Lois V Vierk's CDs, including the premiere recording of her landmark piece "Go Guitars" for five microtonal electric guitars. He focuses now on making and performing drone-based microtonal electronic music (as mysterybear) and playing electric bass with the free-improvisation collective Sisters And Brothers.
