Marcus Fischer is a musician & multimedia artist currently based in Portland, Oregon. The only son of immigrant parents, a Swiss engineer and a Filipino fashion designer, Fischer spent his formative years conducting cassette tape experiments, playing in bands and making punk flyers around Los Angeles. He now records and performs music under both his own name and map~map as well as part of the duo unrecognizable now. The exploration of sight and sound has been a continual focus for Marcus, both in his personal work and in his repeated role as co-curator of vision+hearing, a series of audio/visual events with the goal of bringing musicians and filmmakers together for collaborative performances. He has also had the opportunity to score various short films and performances.
