Ok let's start at the beginning shall we, Hop-Frog has it's humble beginnings in the early winter of 2005. Guitarist Jeff Glenn and drummer Jonzo Zoerb had recently retired from their previous band, and were eager to start a new project. However, the two had trouble getting off the ground, a lack of motivation and trouble finding other musicians of their creed nearly doomed the band from the start. It wasn't until a car ride to school and a mix cd inspired Jonzo and the band truly got started, Jonzo got out of the car, burst through the doors of Ocean City High School, ran to Jeff's locker, and two words escaped his lips, "funk band." This was all Jeff needed to hear. Jeff and Jon, who until then had almost exclusively played classic rock, traded in Led Zeppelin for P-Funk and the Rolling Stones for the JB's, and the Zoerb/Glenn funk band, Independent Nation, was born. They did what they could but available musicians were slim to none, and a drummer and a guitarist do not a funk band make. This lead the two to stray from straight funk during practice, and eventually they ended up playing just about anything that crossed their minds. Sabbath, Zeppelin, P-funk, Run DMC, the Temptations, Carly Simon, Cheap Trick, and countless others all became inspiration fodder. It was soon clear that the band was way beyond a simple funk band. Jonzo had a revelation of sorts, "Everyone more or less sticks to a certain genre, why not just play them all?" This was it, Independent Nation was dropped, Jeff and Jon became a new band, a new musical experiment, they became Hop-Frog. The addition of keyboardist John "the Beeb" Beebe, bassist Gordon Emma, and vocalist Down Town Shane Brown completed the circle. "Slippy Toad" is only the tip of the iceberg, a strange funk fusion to show our musical mettle. The balls to the wall rock of "Havana", the strange story telling "Happy the Cow", the 80's party anthem "Beer Bong Stomp", the colon-stomping metal of "Bloody Chuck", and the dark wizardry of "The Last Jest" are all soon to come.
