Known for their experimental approach to “shichōgata sakuhin” (視聴型作品, roughly “audio-visual works”), the group blended conceptual releases with limited distribution formats, often tied to live events or specific regions. gaudie. formed in 2007, emerging within the underground visual kei scene with a focus on thematic and serialized releases rather than conventional albums. Their earliest known activity dates to 2007, though detailed records from this period remain scarce. In 2008, the band began releasing a steady stream of works, including Shichougata Sakuhin MIRROR (January 8, 2008) and SPIRAL STAIRCASE (July 9, 2008). Their releases frequently carried the label “BUY,” indicating limited or event-exclusive distribution. Later that year, they issued titles such as Binary and several limited-area productions tied to their live tour SPIRAL STAIRCASE tour final -limited area- ~mirror to gaudie.~. The year 2009 marked both expansion and lineup change. Guitarist K (恵) departed early in the year. Shortly after, the band continued releasing conceptual works including Sanou Kaika and Unou Kaika, which explored dualistic themes. In July 2009, drummer Hibiki (響) joined the band, coinciding with one of their most prominent releases, MONSTER OF SNIPER, issued in multiple bonus CD formats. In 2010, gaudie. maintained a consistent output, releasing titles such as KARASU, Calling, and CRASH, each presented as part of differently themed “-gata” series, reinforcing their identity as a project centered around evolving conceptual formats rather than standalone singles. By 2011, internal changes began to destabilize the group. Drummer Hibiki (響) departed in January due to family reasons, followed by bassist Kazuha (禾須葉) in May who retired from the music scene due to family problems that arose after the earthquake. Soon after, gaudie. announced a pause in activities, effectively marking the end of their active period. Being left with only two members, gaudie. went on an infinite hiatus. It is clear that Eiji and Jin will continue to do music and they've appeared in several session bands since then. There was no certain statement that they were disbanding, but according to VKDB, they've disbanded on 2011/05/09. gaudie. distinguished themselves through their emphasis on serialized and conceptual releases, often categorized under terms like “shichougata” and “sakuhin.” Their work frequently blurred the line between music, narrative, and collectible media, with multiple versions and limited distributions encouraging dedicated fan engagement. Musically, they operated within the visual kei spectrum, incorporating elements of alternative rock and experimental structures, while their presentation leaned toward abstract and thematic storytelling.
