About dropmotive
Take a look under Sydney four-piece Dropmotive’s list of influences and you’ll find one band: Dropmotive. This isn’t a case of egos standing in the way of the tipping of hats to those who have come before, but rather a statement of how the band wishes to carve a niche as nothing more than its own brand of emotionally heavy melodic rock. In 2003, Dropmotive announced their arrival with the release of the independent EP In Dilation (produced by Andrew Beck). The band supported this EP by treading the boards and building a healthy and loyal following courtesy of numerous headlining shows. Fast forward to 2007, and Grass, Richie, Dave and Chris are entering the new chapter in the Dropmotive story. Their collective star is on the rise, and the band is benefiting from the development of their song writing skills, the honing of their sound, and tireless gigging throughout Sydney, Canberra and Wollongong at iconic live venues such as the Annandale Hotel, The Hopetoun, Excelsior, Spectrum and Candy’s Apartment. The result is a mature sound, an intense live show, a fresh batch of songs and the new EP Head, Heart & Out of Hand. Produced by ARIA-winning producer/engineer Anton Hagop (Silverchair, Powderfinger, The Dissociatives, COG, Waikiki), Head, Heart & Out of Hand sees the band channelling their energy into melodic, heavy grooves, driving rhythms and emotionally honest lyrics. Catchy hook-laden songs such as “Fracture” and “The Arc” are guaranteed to crawl into your headspace, latch onto the nearest grey matter and not let go. Head, Heart & Out of Hand will be released in February 2008, and the raw, focused energy of Dropmotive’s intense live show must be experienced when the band explodes into venues in support of the new EP.
