About dj smiles
Atlanta is undoubtedly the southern capital of new music, a veritable hot bed of fresh sounds and ideas. The melting pot of styles yields the trends the music industry spreads to the masses. One of the most influential people making moves in the Atlanta scene and across the country is DJ Smiles. By combining the multitude of influences and genres of the city into a raucous new sound, DJ Smiles uses his skills in the studio as a producer and behind the turntables at the hottest parties to get everyone feeling sexy from ear to ear. Smiles gained experience hands-on through the many levels of music business, from his beginnings carrying crates of records as assistant for top DJs to being a leader of the street marketing team for Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. Smiles took his passion for music from mixing records at home to creating the soundtracks for the best clubs in Atlanta. By exploring the best of regional sounds such as B-More Club, House, Electro, and breaks and mixing them with his core of Hip-Hop, he began to create his own unique style and vibe unlike anyone else. When he realized that mixing other people's music wasn’t enough to accurately express his new sound, he found his way into studios, working with top producers and musicians to further extract the rhythms and beats that moved him. When he brought this into the parties and clubs, the music resonated with nearly every scene he encountered, making him a rare crossover success on both the hip-hop and indie electro scenes. Now, after releasing a number of well circulated mixtapes and playing at events across the country, Smiles continues to forge new ground both as an independent DJ and producer, and as part of eclectic Atlanta music collective White Light Syndrome. With their sexy and hip yet aggressive dance tracks, they push the boundries of new music and heat up the blogs and set lists of top DJs everywhere. DJ Smiles, the dude with the grin to win.
