constsad, also known as constant sadness (real name: Baranov Ivan Leonidovich) is a Russian musician and producer, born on October 10, 2006 in Perm', Russia. He began his career on March 18, 2020, under the pseudonym "Flexon". While performing under this pseudonym, he switched from writing rap beats (2020 - 2022) to lo-fi (2022-2024) and then to ambient and electronic music genres (2024). Almost all of releases from that time were deleted from streaming platforms, except "The Way Home" EP, "Fragments" LP and "melancholia" single. On December 29, 2024, Ivan announced that he would no longer perform under this pseudonym, saying that "current project name doesn't fit to his music". On January 12, 2025, Ivan announced that his musical career was not over, posting a teaser with another date announcement, and on January 14, 2025, he announced his new projects "constsad" and "constant sadness". On January 17, the first single, "we can't be together," was released from the EP "apathy," which was released exactly one week later, on January 24, 2025. Right after "apathy" release, another constsad's release, "melancholia", went viral in Yandex.Music through "My Vibe" feature. With more than 5 million streams, "melancholia" remains as the most popular release. On April 15, 2025, constsad announced that he was signed on LIFESTYLE LABEL, following his first label release "let it go" on April 18, 2025. On June 30, 2025, first constsad LP was announced, which was called "Echoes Of My Creativity". On August 22, 2025, "Echoes Of My Creativity" was released. November 2025 was the most unexpected month for constsad. In just 4 weeks, he gained more than 3 million streams, 700.000 listeners and reached 1 million monthly listeners on Russian streaming platform Yandex.Music. Currently, constsad continues to write ambient, while experimenting with rock, DnB and other atmospheric electronic genres. His story is a shining example of how one action can change an entire career.
