About Zigaboo Modeliste
Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste is a renowned funk drummer, who started in the late 1960's with New Orleans' legendary funksters the Meters at age 17. In the studio he has played on tunes featuring Lee Dorsey,Keith Richards, Dr. John,Paul McCartney, Nicky Skopelitis, Bootsy Collins and Robert Palmer. He now lives in Oakland CA and fronts his own group that has produced two albums. His compositions have been recorded by acts like The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus His drum breaks have been heavily sampled throughout the years by hip hop acts including Public Enemy,Ice Cube, and many more.
