About Wing

There is more than one artist sharing this name: 1) WING (Kim Gunho) is a beatboxer from South Korea. WING, who rose to global prominence as a musical artist following the viral success of his single "Dopamine" in 2025, has also been well-regarded in the competitive beatbox scene for many years, boasting numerous titles including 2017 Korea Beatbox Champion, 2018 Asia Beatbox Champion, 2018 Beatbox Legends Champion, and 2025 Grand Beatbox Battle Solo Vice-Champion, as well as 2025 Grand Beatbox Battle Tag-Team Vice-Champion, together with fellow beatboxer Hiss (Oh Hyeonseo), with whom he competes as duo act called "Hiss & WING". WING is also known as is a member of the beatbox crew Beatpella House. He is also half of the tag team "Jackpot," alongside longtime friend and fellow beatboxer Hellcat (Jang Daehyun). WING began beatboxing in middle school. He saw his cousin beatbox at a family gathering who then refused to teach WING when he asked, prompting him to look it up online and learn by himself instead. He won his first title in 2014, as a second year high school student, which caused him to consider pursuing beatbox as a career. After discussion with his parents, he agreed to focus on his education while continuing to beatbox as a hobby. He went on to win several other titles including the national Korean championship in 2017, and after a year of college chose to pivot to beatboxing full-time. Off the back of winning the Asia Championship in 2018, a seeding event for the Grand Beatbox Battle, WING qualified to participate in GBB 2019, but was unable to compete that year due to Korea's mandatory military service requirement. His enlistment in the ROK Navy began Feb 18, 2019 and he was discharged Nov 18, 2020. Since his return to the competitive scene, WING has qualified and competed in three consecutive GBB's, most recently taking home second place in two different categories in 2025. The streak will end in 2026, as it has been announced he will be a member of the judging panel rather than competing. WING is reputed for his precision and musicality, clean technique, compositional skills, and stage presence. He has released several original singles as a solo beatbox artist. At time of writing, his song "Dopamine" is the most viewed beatbox track of all time. WING's highly anticipated first solo full-length album is slated for release in May, 2026. 2) Wing Han Tsang (曾詠韓), popularly known simply as "Wing", is a New Zealand citizen originally from Hong Kong. Wing retired from the music business in June 2015, having released 21 albums in her ten-year career. Having taken up singing as a hobby after arriving in her new homeland, Wing gained an audience by entertaining patients at nursing homes and hospitals in and around Auckland, and this prompted suggestions that she release a CD; the result was a debut entitled Phantom of the Opera, featuring the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, and a selection of other popular tunes. Most agree that Wing's music lacks accuracy in pitch, and the style of her vocals rarely seems appropriate for the songs she covers. This has not stopped fans though, some of whom listen for the novelty, whereas others genuinely appreciate Wing's music. Despite — or more accurately, because of — Wing's pronounced lack of vocal talent and marginal command of English diction, the recording proved a success, leading to a number of subsequent releases that eventually gained her an international audience. In recent years she has become a minor celebrity, appearing on such shows as Rove Live and being featured on episode 903 of South Park, which she actually recorded her vocals for. Wing continues in the tradition of William Hung, Florence Foster Jenkins and Mrs Miller, and despite receiving some rather acerbic reviews, continues to perform and record.
